E-GYAAN Online Course on Mechatronics organised by ASME-MSIT Student ChapterĀ
NAME OF EVENT/PROGRAM:
E-GYAAN Online Course on Mechatronics organised by ASME-MSIT Students Chapter
VENUE:
Online Platform
DURATION/ DATE:
Two weeks ,11th May- 22nd May, 2020
TARGET AUDIENCE:
Mechanical Engineering Students
DESCRIPTION OF EVENT/PROGRAM:
The training program on āA Mechatronics Course on Arduino Hardware & Software Fundamentals for Beginnersā is a part of a comprehensive approach to train students as a professional mechanical engineer. Such approach was proposed by ASME-MSIT Student Chapter members, and has been approved by the HOD, Department of Mechanical Engineering,MSIT.It was a completely online course arranged and coordinated by a group of members of ASME-MSIT student chapters under the the program of āE-GYAANā. The objective of this program is to enhance the multidisciplinary knowledge and employment enhancement of the Mechanical Engineering students. The main objective of the training program is to introduce the concepts of automation and electronics hardware microcontroller to achieve these tasks. AUTODESK TINKERCAD online simulation environment was used to make the hardware circuit using Arduino UNO and microcontroller programming. Arduino programming and corresponding circuits to cater few mechanical engineering problem solutions with the use of sensors and actuators have been demonstrated. Parallel training on theoretical introductory lectures on sensors, motors, electronic components and simulation of the same is done so that students do not get bored. Finally, project ideas have been discussed in the field of mechatronics based on this 2-week learning course. The expected outcome of this course is to make students confident in mechatronics work. Modern automations are replacing many mechanical devices and mechanisms , therefore it is very important to cope up with these technological changes in the field of mechanical engineering. Mechatronics is definitely one of the areas of learning to adapt with these new technologies. Not only that oneās innovative mind can solve problems in the field of engineering by implementing the knowledge of automation hardware one gathered in this course. This is definitely increasing the employability of the mechanical engineering students with few projects done in undergraduate level in mechatronics.

TARGET AUDIENCE:
Open to all Engineering Students
DESCRIPTION OF EVENT/PROGRAM:
The fest consisted of six competitive events (of various genres) namely Voice Your Ink, Pin to the Wall, Knowledgia, Shutterbug, 2 Minutes to Fame and Drawlines. Each event had distinct rules & instructions provided by the organizing team, which if not followed would have led to the disqualification of the respective participant.
Amidst the global widespread of the Covid-19, the sole purpose of organizing the fest was to bring excitement and joy to every undergrad and a slight relief from the regular boring schedule was expected through the competitions. The necessity for an evolution during the lockdown had been proven effective by the large attendance that was observed in every event. Over 150 students from various institutes across the country have been seen to participate in Evolution 2.0.
"Voice Your Ink" A Technical Presentation event where participants were to prepare a presentation on a given theme using Microsoft PowerPoint and record the same, following the instructions provided. Singular entries as well as Group entries were allowed for this event. The participants were allowed to submit anytime within the 7 days span until the submission link was closed.
THEME: Mechanical Engineering and Related Interdisciplinary Areas
"Pin to the wall" The participants had to make a Technical Poster on the same theme as for the technical presentation event but on a template that was already provided by the Student Section. The poster had to be submitted within the 7 days in the given link. Singular as well as group entries were allowed for this event.
THEME: Mechanical Engineering and Related Interdisciplinary Areas
"Knowledgia" A two-day Quiz event was held through online mode attracting the maximum participants from various institutes across the country.
Day 1 (12th June): A 15 minutes quiz conducted through Google Form for all the participants to make way for the Top 15 to qualify for the Finale.
Day 2 (13th June): The final round of the event with the Top 15 from the preliminary round, held live through Google Meet.
Out of 184 participants who had registered for the event, 127 participants had managed to submit their responses on time for the preliminary round, hence were eligible for the āCertificate of Participationā while the rest were considered to be disqualified.
"Shutterbug" The Photography event for all the enthusiasts. Participants had to submit their photographs according to the theme that was given.
Theme: Pandemic
"Two minutes fame" A 2 minutes video clip showing off the skillset of the participant was the only requirement for this event. The submissions included dance clips, songs sung by the participants, magic show for a couple of minutes and a few creative videos as well.
"Drawlines" The Painting event for the participants to draw/paint/sketch on any idea.
